Overview

There are numerous and constant challenges around time, conflict, and overall stress management in healthcare. Healthcare professionals are constantly having to make difficult, timely, and accurate decisions. Having sound critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills can make a substantial positive difference in one‘s practice and patient safety. This learning activity addresses change, reality shock, time management, conflict management, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.

The goal of this course is to provide nurse preceptors in ambulatory settings with information about how to manage challenges and encourage critical thinking and creative problem-solving in preceptorships. After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Identify how change, reality shock, time management, stress management, and conflict management present challenges and ways to manage these challenges as a preceptor.
  • Recall the importance of critical thinking and creative problem-solving in ambulatory care nursing and how to facilitate improving these skills in a preceptorship.
