Goals and Outcomes
Goals and Learning Outcomes
Nurses are obligated to keep abreast of current issues surrounding the regulation of the practice of nursing. The practice of nursing is a right granted by a state to protect those who need nursing care. Nurses are duty-bound to patients to practice in a safe, competent, and responsible manner. Ohio nurses must complete at least one hour of continuing education directly related to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and its related rules to apply or renew their license. Two hours of continuing education related to the state act are required under certain circumstances (e.g., inactive licenses or license by endorsement).

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • List the major provisions of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
  • List the rights and responsibilities of the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Contrast the practice of registered nursing with that of licensed practical nursing.
  • Contrast the practice of registered nursing with that of advanced practice nursing.
  • Identify the rights and responsibilities provided to all nurse licensees under the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
  • Identify three unique provisions of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
  • List conditions in which a CNS, CNP, or RN may pronounce death in Ohio.
