Overview
The goal of this course is to educate health professionals of the benefits of exercise on health and fitness.Goals and Learning Outcomes
Only about half of U.S. adults engage in the recommended aerobic activity as outlined in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2021). Healthcare professionals need to understand the latest exercise guidelines to make the best recommendations for their patients. This course will discuss the latest exercise guidelines from the HHS, the benefits of exercise, and safety recommendations.
- Recall the benefits of physical activity/exercise.
- Indicate elements of an exercise prescription.
- Recall guidelines for safe exercise.
