Biological warfare remains a concern in the U.S., which suffered anthrax attacks in 2001. This module gives an overview of smallpox and botulism, including history, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Measures to prepare for emergency bioterrorism are also presented.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify the signs and symptoms of botulism and smallpox and understand their medical management
  • List the recommendations of national agencies involved in emergency preparedness measures
  • Explain emergency preparedness measures for bioterrorism
