Proper wound care management is an important element in the care of the patient. Thoroughly assessing the patient and the wound, gathering all mitigating circumstances through a detailed medical history, and review of the current health status of the patient and their comorbidities that may affect the course of healing are essential components of care.
- Discuss assessments for wound evaluation and develop patient-centered care plans.
- Explain wound care management and the psychosocial aspects of wound care.
- Describe four types of wounds and their etiologies.
- Recognize the causes of wound infections and describe the phases of healing.
