Overview
Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) refers to a complex disorder of the blood characterized by abnormal clotting, leading to consumption of clotting factors that ultimately results in abnormal bleeding. This module provides information about the pathophysiology, assessment and treatment of DIC, including the factors that precipitate DIC, assessment parameters and the lab values associated with DIC.Goals and Learning Outcomes
