This course aims to provide healthcare professionals with a foundational knowledge of how healthcare systems manage disasters. Participants will learn the essential stages of disaster preparedness, how disasters are managed, and how patients are triaged in mass casualty events.
- Recall the essential steps for a healthcare organization to take to prepare for a disaster.
- Identify the key parts of an incident command system (ICS) in the prehospital, emergency, and acute care setting.
- Determine how to triage patients by healthcare needs in a disaster.
