Overview
The goal of this course is to educate clinicians in all healthcare settings on the prevention of medical errors.Goals and Learning Outcomes
Medical errors are costly and often preventable, and should be considered a public health concern since they are in the top three-leading causes of death in the U.S. (Aljabari & Kadhim, 2021). Healthcare providers across all disciplines must be proactively involved in the prevention of medical errors to create an environment of safety for all individuals. This course will provide information on the various types of medical errors, their causes, reporting requirements, prevention methods, and the role of the healthcare provider. This course will also review The Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals as they pertain to medical errors.
