Overview
Older adults can suffer from a wide range of foot problems. Age-related changes, years of wear and tear, inadequate foot care, use of poorly fitting footwear, obesity, and chronic medical conditions can cause foot-related disability. Older adults may have decreased mobility, diminished function, and loss of quality of life when their feet give them trouble. Healthcare providers can reduce these problems by providing a comprehensive assessment, daily foot care, and patient education.

The goal of this course is to instruct nurses in the acute care setting how to provide foot care for the older adult.
After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Identify common foot problems for older adults.
  • Apply knowledge of nursing care for foot problems in older adults, such as treatments and prevention options.
