Overview
The goal of this course is to provide nurses with knowledge related to the standards of care specific to gastroenterology nursing.Goals and Learning Outcomes
In all practice settings the standards of practice executed by the gastroenterology nurse define, guide, and direct the care provided and positively influence the outcome of the patient. These outcomes are based on the knowledge, experience, and role of that provider. These standards reflect the minimal levels of scope of practice and competence of the nurse to ensure that expertise and global critical thinking skills are supported through application of evidence-based practice.
The goal of this course is to provide nurses with knowledge related to the standards of care specific to gastroenterology nursing.
- Understand crisis management and its impact upon the nursing care plan.
- Discuss documentation and illustrate its importance to the plan of care.
- Describe the relevance of the nursing diagnosis to the practice of gastrointestinal nursing
- Define the nursing process within the context of gastrointestinal nursing
- Describe the expected behavior of professional nurses within the context of gastrointestinal nursing.
- Explain the nursing process and its relevance to the practice of gastrointestinal nursing.
- Explain how accreditation, regulations, and guidelines influence nursing practice within the endoscopy setting.
