This course provides registered nurses with information to be successful in an online RN to BSN program.

Goals and Learning Outcomes
The 2010 Institute of Medicine’s recommendation to increase the percentage of baccalaureate prepared nurses to 80% by 2020 resulted in an expansion of BSN programs. There are over 600 online RN-BSN programs today. Online nursing programs provide the flexibility needed for nurses to return to school, while still working and maintaining their personal obligations. Learning in the online format is different but can be highly satisfying for being a part of a community-like class environment with other nurses. There are many resources available to online students to help them be successful. This course provides information on what to expect in an online RN-BSN program and how to be successful.The goal of this educational program is to provide registered nurses with information to be successful in an online RN to BSN program.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Differentiate three formats of online RN-BSN programs.
  • Describe ways to enhance learning in the discussion board environment.
  • Describe the importance of online communication and building a sense of community in an online class.
