The goal of this course is to educate healthcare professionals about the classification, epidemiology, and pharmacological treatment of anxiety disorders.

Goals and Learning Outcomes
Knowledge, expertise, and familiarity with the various drugs used to treat anxiety disorders are fundamental for proper treatment and patient safety. It is necessary that pharmacists properly monitor for commonly serious adverse effects of medications. They can also play a vital role in education and help provide counseling tips and recommendations for selecting an optimal medication based on patient-specific factors.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Review various drug classes used to treat anxiety disorders
  • Compare and contrast pharmacotherapy options for the treatment of anxiety disorders with regards to their safety, efficacy, and place in therapy
  • Describe the pharmacistÂ’s role in the management of anxiety disorders
  • Recognize various drug classes and pharmacotherapy options for treating anxiety disorders regarding their safety, efficacy, and place in therapy.
  • Define the pharmacist’s role in the management of anxiety disorders.
  • Identify the various types of anxiety disorders and their common characteristics
