Overview
The goal of this module is to provide information about conditions of the neonate's gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems.

Goals and Learning Outcomes
The purpose of this course is to provide the learner with an overview of the neonate’s gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems, including normal and abnormal findings. Abnormalities of the GI and GU systems, conditions, and complications will be discussed. Assessment, causes, and management of these complications will also be described.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Discuss identification and management of renal failure
  • Identify at least two GI and two GU abnormalities
  • Describe identification and management of necrotizing enterocolitis
  • Review normal and abnormal gastrointestinal and genitourinary assessment findings
  • Review normal and abnormal gastrointestinal and genitourinary assessment findings in the neonate.
  • Describe identification and management of necrotizing enterocolitis.
  • Identify at least two GI and two GU abnormalities.
  • Discuss identification and management of renal failure.
