Overview
This course provides the learner with an overview of hematology, genetics, metabolism, and the endocrine system as it pertains to the neonate.Goals and Learning Outcomes
- Recognize at least two endocrine and metabolic disorders
- Discuss identification and management of hyperbilirubinemia
- Identify at least two hematological abnormalities
- Describe components and normal ranges of blood count
- Describe components and normal ranges of a complete blood count, identify at least two hematologic abnormalities, and discuss identification and management of hyperbilirubinemia.
- Distinguish Mendelian from non-Mendelian inheritance patterns, identify at least two congenital defects, and recognize at least two endocrine and metabolic disorders.
