Healthcare professionals frequently care for patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) in the inpatient setting. Planning care for those with PD involves a solid understanding of the disease process, symptom management, and medication management. This course explains the pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, drug therapy, and nonpharmacological treatments for PD. Take this course to better understand PD and improve outcomes for your patients with PD.

The goal of this course is to educate nurses, physicians, and pharmacists in the acute care setting on management and treatment of PD.


After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Recall the pathophysiology of and risk factors for Parkinson's disease.
  • Recognize the clinical manifestations of Parkinson's disease.
  • Apply evidence-based treatments and disease management principles for Parkinson's disease.
