Overview
Although nurses have always had a key role in care coordination, opportunities for individual nurses to influence our country's healthcare system have never been greater. Increasing numbers of baby boomers needing healthcare and the challenge of caring for people with chronic disease will continue to stress the healthcare system. In every setting and in every role, nurses can provide leadership for the changes needed to improve health care for Americans. This course provides an overview about trends in the healthcare industry, discusses skills nurses can learn to influence change, and challenges every nurse to become a strong leader and a supportive follower.
