The goal of the course is to define the associated disorders and stages and the consequences of substance use in women.

Rates of tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drug use remain an issue for the U.S. population. The long-term health effects of such use, especially in women, can be detrimental if not addressed. Healthcare providers are best qualified to assess, treat, and refer women with known risk factors for substance abuse or substance use disorder (SUD).

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Define the disorders associated with substance abuse in women
  • Describe the developmental stages of substance abuse in women
  • Identify three consequences of substance abuse in women
  • Define the associated disorders and developmental stages of substance use disorder in women.
  • Identify three consequences of substance use disorder in women.
