Goals and Outcomes
Goals and Learning Outcomes
The process of caring for traumatically injured patients may be described as a “journey” and involves the coordination of many different healthcare professionals. This journey may be referred to as the “continuum of care” and questions regarding the continuum of care are included on the TCRN exam. This course will introduce learners to components of the continuum of care. The goal of this course is to provide nurses preparing for the Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) examination with information about the continuum of care in relation to trauma.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Describe at least three different classifications of injury prevention.
  • Discuss important considerations during pre-hospital care, transport, and transfer of the traumatically injured patient.
  • Describe key elements a nurse should remember during trauma resuscitation.
  • Identify key concepts of rehabilitation, discharge planning, and end-of-life care for the traumatically injured patient.
