Goals and Learning Outcomes
Methamphetamine is a central nervous system stimulant similar in structure to <a href="https://www.nurse.com/clinical-guides/amphetamine-toxicity/">amphetamines.</a> Methamphetamine is classified as a Schedule II drug, which means it has a high potential for abuse and psychological or physical dependence. Non-prescription methamphetamine is manufactured internationally and imported into the U.S. or it can be manufactured in clandestine laboratories throughout the U.S. This course will provide nurses with information about methamphetamine, including short- and long-term effects, high-risk groups, and treatment strategies.
