Goals and Outcomes
Goals and Learning Outcomes

The workplace has changed dramatically over the past few decades. Previously, leading an organization meant managing, directing, or supervising. The individual in charge was seen as “the boss” and was responsible for directing all activities and making all decisions. There has been a growing dissatisfaction with traditional top-to-down leadership and many managers find themselves in the new role of being a "coach." The ideas in this course are designed to help you become a coach in the very best sense of the word.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Discuss the difference between being a coach and being a boss.
  • Describe two ways to confront and correct poor performance through coaching and a performance improvement plan.
  • Explain how to make the transition from manager to coach.
