Overview
- Identify the mechanisms of action and indications of commonly used vasoactive drugs in the OR.
- Recognize the physiologic effects of vasoactive drug therapy as well as positive and negative outcomes associated with vasoactive drugs.
Goals and Learning Outcomes
This course discusses the vasoactive drugs commonly used in the OR. More specifically, it discusses the mechanism of action, indications, and physiologic effects of vasoactive drug therapy. It also provides standard dosages for the safe administration and titration of vasoactive drugs. Familiarity with vasoactive agents is key to ensuring patient safety and reducing the risk of patient morbidity and mortality.
